A Few Words About Us
Yue Chi was born in Beijing in the early 1960‘s and was brought up in the Russian-influenced city of Harbin, in China‘s most northern province.
Since coming to North America in 1989, Yue has made a career of operating and leading cultural and adventure travel programs to China and other Asian destinations, with a special focus on exposure to first-hand experiences and featuring real-life encounters. Her goal is to build bridges of understanding by way of her programs, which are designed especially to allow travellers to connect to other cultures on a very personal level. She initiated this unique overland expedition program “Drive the Silk Road – From Europe to China”, which runs annually from April to July.
Yue has been a guest speaker to a number of professional organizations such the Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Canada-China Friendship Society, Canadian Clubs across Canada, The Adventurers’ Club of Los Angeles, The Silk Road House of UC Berkeley, etc.
David Visagie. Born in Zimbabwe and grew up in Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa, David has also lived in Germany and speaks fluent German. Being an experienced Land Rover mechanic, David had used his own-built Land Rover Defender travelling across the African continent, along both the east route and the west route.
Being in charge of the vehicles and driving management for the overland expedition, “Drive the Silk Road”, David has organized seven journeys from Europe to China. Each year from November to February, David is mostly based in South Africa organizing expeditions and 4X4 trips throughout South and Southern Africa. David is also a passionate off-road motorbike racing athlete and has participated the “Roof of Africa” race in Lesotho.
We plan each itinerary with a great amount of personal touch. We know how important the pace of a trip to a foreign land can be. We match hotels to the style of the trip and choose modes of transportation that maximize the expedition, game-viewing or sightseeing experience as well as the comfort. We carefully plan our programs to ensure you have enough time in each stop to see the sights - and have leisure time to relax and enjoy yourself. Our meal plans are carefully developed so you receive outstanding value - but also have time to taste local specialties on your own.
Customizing Is Our Strength
For those who cannot fit our scheduled departures into their calendars, or who prefer to travel with their own friends and family, we design custom programs to suit your specific needs. We have operated special trips for groups such as the Canadian Bar Association, Royal Ontario Museum, Upper Canada College, New Hampshire Friendship Chorus and so on.
